Here’s a headline ripped from Yahoo! News:
By Alistair Lyon
BAGHDAD (Reuters) – The U.S. postwar combat death toll in Iraq (news – web sites) climbed past the number of soldiers killed during the invasion when the U.S. military said Wednesday it had lost two more dead in a roadside bomb north of Baghdad.
- A stone marker set up on a roadside to indicate the distance in miles from a given point.
- An important event, as in a person’s career, the history of a nation, or the advancement of knowledge in a field; a turning point.
Of all things, I don’t think this is something to call a milestone…I reserve milestones for good things, as do most people I’m sure. We just finished the last feature for this milestone, hurrah! We just killed Uday and Qusay Hussein, an important milestone in Iraq; hurrah! For the enemy this is an important milestone for them, but for Reuters to use it is a bit…ick.
