Kerry’s hypocrisy

Lapsus Calami has done some more research prompted by my comment about Kerry missing votes while he is campaigning.

According to the C-SPAN: CONGRESS GUIDE, Senator Kerry has not cast a vote on the last 12 “key votes” in the Senate. The last key vote he participated in was S.Amdt. 2028 to S. 139 – Climate Stewardship Act of 2003 on 10/30/2003. Kerry has only voted on 3 of the last 40 roll calls.

The hypocrisy of course comes from Kerry’s rant on Bush’s appearance at the Daytona 500 on Sunday.

Kerry, who has a commanding lead in the race to oppose Bush this fall, chided the president for taking time out Sunday to attend the Daytona 500, saying the country was bleeding jobs while he posed for a “photo opportunity.”

Oddly, there were 3 of these “key votes” on 10/30/2003, but yet Kerry only managed to vote in one of them.

I have no problem with a Senator, Rep., or even the President missing some work while they campaign; the short time they spend now will greatly impact the next 4 years. But to rant about someone posing for a photo-op instead of working, while you yourself haven’t worked is laughable.
