Half-Life 2 Preload delayed

I saw this the other day but was too tired to write a post about it: Erik Johnson says

We’re going to push the start of the preload back until this coming Monday. The main reason was to get out the release (that just happened) to the CS: Source Beta.

*sigh* not that it matters too much; the preload just guarantees that i’ll have only a short download before I can play HL2 when it comes out.

I’m still impressed at just how much bandwidth they have available to send out 500MB or so to everyone in the beta program for Counter-Strike: Source. The true test will come with HL2 though, where preload for it is going to weigh in at about 2GB. Even Microsoft’s download site slows to a crawl when a major release comes out yet I have no problem downloading at 1.6Mb/s from Steam.
