TiVo Home Media Engine

TiVo’s Home Media Engine has launched and with it a whole new avenue of TiVo development has opened up. Most interesting to me of course is that included with the SDK is documentation describing the HME protocol (refer to doc/hme-protocol.pdf in the SDK archive). This means that .NET developers won’t necessarily be left out, once someone writes a .NET implementation of the protocol AND the implements the various helper classes to ease development.

We should also be able to use the already written simulator until a time comes that one is written in .NET.

So does that mean I’m gonna start such a project? We’ll see… 😀

Update: Well now I feel stupid, the entire source tree is included as well; for the simulator and the server look in /src.zip of the SDK archive.

  1. The new project idea sounds good – though with 4400 USD worth of games with you, I wonder when you’ll find the time to code!
