Awesome site of the day

Luc and I are sitting at the Columbus airport waiting for our flight to Chicago as we head out to Tulsa for Tulsa TechFest 2007.  A few days ago Joel and Steve Pietrek talked about a site called FlightAware which tracks pretty much everything to do with flight status.

Since my VPN won’t connect I decided to check it out, the site is really useful.  Browsing through the listing of en route flights I see that the plane I’m taking was listed as delayed, checking back later I see that the flight had taken off was currently at 20000ft (and raising up to 27000) and was estimated to arrive at 1:23EDT.  I’m currently scheduled to leave columbus at 1:37EDT, doesn’t look like thats gonna happen.

  1. One thing that was left out is that we were the first ones in the terminal to know that the flight was delayed. Everybody sitting around us had no idea that the plane was even running late.

Another thing that was left out is that we did a “totally awesome” high-five when the announcement was made that the flight was running late. 🙂

FlightAware get’s my vote for todays’ useful utility.
